Children’s Mental Health Week: Know Yourself, Grow Yourself
At Kelvin Grove, we are proud to support Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week, Monday 3rd – Friday 7th February 2025, with this year’s theme being Know Yourself, Grow Yourself. This initiative emphasises the importance of understanding and expressing our emotions to build resilience and promote emotional well-being. Place2Be’s has joined forces with Here4You to explore the importance of self-awareness and expressing emotions.
Here4You is supported by The Walt Disney Company, and through the characters of Pixar’s Inside Out and Inside Out 2, activities week encourages children to explore their emotions and understand themselves better, building resilience and emotional well-being.
As part of the week, children will take part in a range of activities in class including two exciting creative projects:
- Creating Rosettes: Each child will design a rosette to celebrate a personal achievement they are proud of this year, encouraging reflection and self-recognition.
- Painting Star Magnets: In partnership with the PTA, children will paint wooden star magnets in the colour of a chosen emotion, inspired by Disney’s Inside Out 2. This activity promotes conversations about feelings and emotional awareness.
In addition to these activities, we are raising funds for St Christopher’s Hospice, Young People’s Bereavement Service – Candle, a remarkable organisation that supports children’s mental health. We have chosen this charity because of its impactful work and the positive experiences our school has had with their support. Contributions can be made via cash donations at school or through our online fundraiser here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/jaheems-candle?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL
