Club Xtra
Our after-school club runs from 3.15pm-6.00pm daily. The club takes place in the main hall and dining room, but the children often make use of other school resources (such as class rooms or playgrounds) dependent upon availability. ClubXtra is excellent value and children receive first-rate childcare, with structured play, learning activities and a healthy snack (download the menu below). The club is managed by Alison Jupp.
The cost per session from 5th September 2022 is £12.50 (£11.50 for each additional sibling), which includes a snack. Please note that all members must have completed the registration form below indication that they have read and agree to our terms and conditions. Late fees also apply for pick up after 6pm (£6 per 15 minutes until child is collected). Bookings can be made via Scopay.

Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club opens from 7:45 am and is held in the school dining hall which is accessed by the top side gate of the school. The club is managed by Mrs Freeman.
Alongside a healthy breakfast (a variety of cereal, bakery, yoghurts and juices) they provide a friendly happy and safe environment, with a daily variety of play and educational activities that get the children warmed up and ready to learn. At the end of the session all children are collected by their teacher or teaching assistant.
You MUST NOT provide a ‘homemade breakfast’ for your child, unless previously agreed with the club manager, this is due to food allergies.
The cost per session from 5th September 2023 is £4.50.

We provide a friendly, happy and safe environment for the children with a daily variety of different activities to ensure your child gets off to the best start of the school day.

Enrichment Clubs
What’s new?
We would like to announce our new autumn term programme of enrichment clubs starting the week commencing Monday 23rd September 2024.
Once again, we are asking parents to ‘pre-book’ our clubs via SCOPAY – our online payment system – clubs open for booking on Monday 5th August 2024.
Cricket Wicket Club (Y3,4,5&6) – Wednesday Morning
We are delighted to introduce cricket to our school. This popular bat and ball sport is played all over the world and is something we think the children will thoroughly enjoy!
French Club (Years 1,2,3&4) – Wednesday
This club celebrates all things French, the language, the culture and the food. Members will create art, learn French words and phrases, and also get the chance to cook.
Also, Coding Club is back by popular demand as is Cooking with KG.
Coding Club (Y3,4,5&6) – Tuesday
Children will learn coding and have the opportunity to create and publish their very own unique game using Code Camp World. Children will focus on the fun aspects of coding whilst developing problem-solving and creativity skills.
Little Coders (Y1&2)- Tuesday
This club is designed to introduce our younger pupils to the fascinating world of code. They will learn the basic principles of coding in a fun, practical and exciting way. Members will be taught simple algorithms, loops, variable, animation, level design and much, much more!
We reserve the right to cancel a club if not enough children sign up to it; however, we will issue a full refund if this becomes necessary.
To book a club place you will need to PRE-BOOK and pay in advance via SCOPAY / TRIPS & EVENTS. If you haven’t received your registration invite email, then please contact the school office. We no longer except cash via the office and are encouraging ALL parents and carers to pay online via SCOPAY.
HOW DO I BOOK A CLUB PLACE?
- To book a club place you will need to PAY IN ADVANCE via SCOPAY /TRIPS & EVENTS
- Log onto your SCOPAY account and select ‘TRIPS & EVENTS’ from 5:00pm TODAY (26th March 2024)
- Select the child you wish to make a payment for
- Tap the item name button to view details
- Pay for the item by tapping ‘Make Payment’
- Enter the amount you wish to pay and tap ‘Add To Basket’
- Tap on your basket
- Check the items in your basket and edit if necessary – tap checkout
- Confirm your billing address – save your address details
- Tap ‘Process Payment’
- Enter your card details and tap ‘Pay’
- A receipt will be displayed and your club is provisionally secured.
- However, if the club is oversubscribed or is unsuitable for your child e.g. is not the appropriate age for the club, you will be contacted and offered a full refund.
- If your child requires additional support at school, you will need to discuss your club application with our Claire Hicklin SENCO, prior to your child starting the club.
We will also confirm club places via text message, after the Easter holidays.

Mini Athletics (Rec – Y 1 2)
This club focuses on the ABC’s of movement (agility, balance and co-ordination) through a structured but play-based format. The key athletic skills taught are sprinting, javelin, discus, long-jump, shot-put, hurdles and high-jump.
This club certainly wins a ‘Gold Medal’ for developing physical, cognitive and social skills!
Cost: £45 (10 week run).
Gardening Club (pupils to be accompanied by an adult)
We want you to join our gardening community group to help us sow, grow and harvest our very own Kelvin Grove fruit and vegetables.
This club is a wonderful opportunity for children and parents/carers to spend quality time together learning new skills and experiencing first-hand how a garden really grows.
There is no need to sign up just join Mr Murray in the community garden (all children must be accompanied by an adult). Due to the changeable weather we will text parents/carers to confirm if the club is taking place or not on a Thursday
Piano Club (Years 4 5 6)
Kelvin Grove has its very own Piano Club run by Mr Vees on a Thursday ‘day time’. Members are automatically renewed and pupils receive tuition from our very talented school pianist and freelance musician. Beginners learn in small groups of 4 pupils, and as they progress are moved to pairs and finally one-to-one lessons.
Regular practise is essential for any student to progress and make the most of this wonderful learning opportunity, therefore we ask parents/carers to support their child with daily 5+ minute practise sessions at home on a piano or keyboard. We also have a piano practise room in the school that children can book to use at lunch times, break times or after school.
Cost: £70 per term, (10 week run).
Clothing: School uniform
Equipment needed: Piano and keyboard provided at school by Kelvin Grove. Children are also required to have their own piano or keyboard to practise on at home, and to purchase the piano book recommended by Mr Lea.
Hockey Club (Years 3 4 5 6)
Hockey is led by Mr Djavit who is a Level Three Internationally qualified hockey coach. He has over 20 years’ experience of coaching, most notably working with the under 18s National England players (boys and girls squads) including Barry Middleton (previous Captain of the Great Britain team).
He is a familiar face around school as a consultant physical education (PE) teacher who mentors staff in PE teaching methods to help better deliver our active sporting programme. He is also the Lewisham Hockey Development Officer and regularly trains and enters a Kelvin Grove team in local sporting events.
Cost: £45 (10 week run).
Clothes: PE kit or sports leisure wear
we also strongly advise pupils to purchase their own gum shield and shin-pads – gum shields are available from the school office.

Football Clubs / Multi-sports – ALL YEARS
Often described as the ‘Beautiful Game’ football is mighty popular here at Kelvin Grove! We provide football or multi-sports clubs for all age groups and have two very talented club coaches on board, Mr Bentz and Mr Hattam!
We are very excited to welcome Marc Bentz to our talented line-up of coaches. Marc has over 25 years’ experience coaching both children and adults in football and other sports and is a qualified Union of European Football Associations Coach (UEFA) and Football Association (FA) Youth Coach, as well as having a BSc in Sports Science.
During his sporting career, Marc has worked for outreach programmes providing PE lessons for primary schools in Bromley, Crystal Palace and Lewisham. He has also worked for premier league stalwarts Chelsea Football Club in their coaching and development centres – impressive stuff!
As well as the opportunity to play match games, these club sessions will include coaching and set drills designed to develop children’s basic skills and levels of fitness.
Our Multi-sports clubs will cover a gamut of sports with lessons designed to be fit, fast and fun and introduce children to a variety of new sports including basket-ball, cricket, athletics, rugby and so much more!

KG Board Games Club (Years 1 2)
Our new board game club (overseen by Mrs Merzouki) proved so popular last year, that we are offering it again this term. As well as teaching children how to play some of our best loved games, the aim is to help them understand instructions, take turns, while using and increasing their knowledge of English and maths.
Featured games include Dominoes, Yatzee, Bing, Pick-Up Sticks, Snakes and Ladders, Scrabble and many more!

Basketball Club (Years 3 4 5 6)
This latest addition to our club line-up was inspired by our School Council who discussed our clubs and noted that Basketball was not on offer. Well it is now, so sign up and join in the fun with Mr Bentz.
Cost £45 for 10 week run.
Street Dance (Years 1 2 3)
Street Dance is led by Mr Nelson founder of Team Kaizen, a group of highly talented professionals who are truly committed to the art of dance. Recent TV credits for the team include ‘The 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony’, ‘The MOBOS’ & ‘The Brit Awards’ ceremonies, and the ‘Got To Dance’ final to boot!
Pupils will be taught some cool moves and the correct technique and history of street dance. Lessons are fun and energetic, and just challenging enough to encourage pupils of all abilities to truly express themselves.
During the final club session Mr Nelson invites parents/carers to attend a special performance (TBC) where children showcase their dancing achievements and sometimes the adults get to join in too!

KG KS2 Choir
What could be more uplifting than joining a choir and singing for your supper!
KS2 Choir club lead by our very own Mr Glenn.
Children will get to rehearse joyful songs and feel united when singing the harmonies together!
Cost: FREE (5 week run each year group)
Story Time Plus (Years 1 2 3)
We love reading at Kelvin Grove so what could be more fitting than our new Book Club Plus offering. Children will discover new books as well as revisiting old favourites and enjoy a relaxing story time.
The PLUS part is that after sharing the book members will get to make story themed craft to take home and enjoy after each session. This club is run by our very talented Mrs Merzouki.

Friday Musical Theatre (Rec – Years 1 2)
This club is run by professional West End actors who love sharing their passion for acting, singing and dancing. Members are taught to warm up their bodies and voices, as well as simple vocal technique exercises.
They also get the chance to choose a musical theatre show to rehearse and then perform together for their parents/carers. The mini performance is bound to be a ‘show stopper’.
Cost: £55 (10 week run)
Groove School (Years 4 5 6)
The music is back at KG with the launch of Groove School.
This club provides children with professional music tuition where the children will be rotating in their groups doing three 30 minute activities:
1) Specialist Lesson in Small Groups on their chosen instrument
2) Samba Band whole groups learning Latin, Salsa, Jazz and Samba rhythms
3) Song Writing: using riff and rhythms learned in 1 & 2, the children will use GarageBand and MuseScore to compose their own songs.
GUITARISTS – If you have your own guitar, please bring it to Mr Glenn as soon as possible so that he can set it up and tune it.
If you do not have a guitar, we will be providing you with a Groove School Guitar.
FIFE & FLAUTIST – You will be given a Groove School Fife, which is yours to keep.
When you are ready to move to the full size Orchestral Flute we will make arrangements for you to have use of a school instrument.
REFRESHMENTS
We will provide Fresh Fruit, when available, which the children can have during the Groove School Assembly in the Paxton Hall from 3:00pm – 3:15pm.
Alternatively, you may give your child a Healthy Snack e.g. fruit, fruit juice, rice cakes or oat cakes.
Cost is £80 (that’s an amazing £4 per hour)

Beatbox Club (Years 3 4)
This club is run by our very own Branimir from Y6 Brass class. He was keen to start a club in order to share his knowledge and love of Beatboxing. Members will be taught how to Beatbox, watch specialist music videos, perform songs together, and maybe even have a drop the mic battle!
Dodgeball Club (Years 3 4 5 6)
Dodgeball is a popular team sport in which players on opposing teams throw soft balls at opponents while avoiding being hit themselves. It’s a fun, fast paced game which helps to develop children’s hand and eye coordination and increase their fitness levels.
