It has been a fantastic return to school for Cerise class. We have started our new topic ‘Under The Sea’. We are set to explore the wonders of the ocean and other water habitats. We have been reading ‘The Big Book Of Blue’ which is an information book. We have learnt some really cool and amazing facts.
‘The Big Book Of Blue ‘ has inspired us to write our own facts files. We have used our phonics and tricky word knowledge to write down all of the information we have found out. We are using the features of a fact file, such as headings to help organise our ideas. We cannot wait for you to read them.
We have been making the most of the lovely weather and enjoying time learning outdoors. We have been pratcising our tricky word reading by playing tricky word hopscotch. It has been great fun.
In maths we have been exploring the concept of pattern. We have been creating sound patterns , looking for patterns in the environment and creating our own printed patterns.
We have been very creative in Cerise class whilst exploring what a habitat is. We have created habitats for sea animals using egg boxes and other recycled resources such as milk bottle lids. We have discussed what makes the sea such a unique habitat and what we can do to protect it. We also explored our garden and noticed some beautiful blossom growing on the trees. We used the flowers as inspiration for painting and colour mixing.
