Azure class have only be back for a few days but already have been spotted working well together, being supportive and trying their best to adapt to the new timetable. The year 4 team have been enjoying getting to know them and finding out about their interests.
In English, we have begun with a poetry book called ‘The Lost Spells’ which has poems about creatures that are native to the British Isles such as foxes, owls, badgers, woodpeckers and more. The whole class worked on a poetry performance of a wonder poem about a jackdaw. Each group prepared individual verses to be read aloud and took turns so we could hear the whole thing from beginning to end. Performing it as rap made it sound like a tongue twister!
Today we spent the morning launching our new topic – ‘Let There Be Light!’ The children tried out a range of static electricity mini-experiments (moving bubbles, bending water, moving balloons etc). Some worked well and others didn’t produce enough charge but this stimulated lots of discussion. One of the most interesting and popular activities was the plasma ball which showed the flow of energy when it was touched by a finger or a hand.
Azure class are looking forward to learning about electrical circuits over this half term and learning new things in a range of subjects. The children are particularly excited about the new school token system and getting their first stickers on the sticker new charts!
