In Orchid Class we have been learning the story ‘The Runaway Chapatti’. Last week we had lots of fun making our own chapattis and eating them. This week we have been telling the story off by heart and we have even been making up our own versions by changing the animal that eats the Chapatti Man at the end. We are beginning to write our own endings too.
We have also been finding out about Diwali and why Hindu people celebrate this festival of light. Ms Kaur visited us and told us about the special colourful clothes. She told us about special foods and sweets. We also made and decorated our own diva lamps and made colourful Rangoli patterns using coloured rice.
In maths we have been learning about shape. We made our own 2D shape pictures and now we are investigating 3D shapes. Today we built ramps to find out why some shapes roll and some slide. We realised that the shapes with flat faces slide and those with curved surfaces roll.
