We’ve had a busy few weeks in Lavender Class – learning about the impact of the Second World War on London, carrying out experiments on materials in Science, finding out how to subtract tricky numbers and how to multiply and divide.
In English we have been finding out how to write a newspaper report about the events of the 7th September 1940, and as part of this, we are going for a walk in Sydenham next week to identify the buildings that were damaged then and in the following nights.
For our Design Technology project we are researching and then designing an air raid shelter. We need to make sure it is strong and can ‘house’ 5 people (small plastic characters!). We’re going to be making our shelters in pairs or groups of three over the next few weeks – we’re looking forward to experimenting how to join cardboard together in a variety of ways.
