We returned to school on Monday and jumped straight into our new topic, ‘From Source to Sea’. Our D&T project this term is to build a bridge across a river, so we were put into groups and had to work collaboratively to design and build a bridge. We used the Chromebooks to research bridges and then had to create a bridge which would stand across a distance of 30cm and the most successful bridge was the one that held the most weight. We will now be able to use what we have learnt on the launch day in our projects.
In English, we have begun our writing to persuade genre where we are working towards writing a persuasive letter to human kind from the ocean. We have learnt key vocabulary, such as global warming, fossil fuel and biodegradable and learnt to use them accurately in sentences.
In Computing, we have started our ’What’s the Weather?’ module where we used a time and date website to log the temperature of different cities onto a spreadsheet and then sort the information from hottest to coldest.
