In English, we have been watching the animation “Varmints”. We created posters to liberate the Varmints, using persuasive devices. We also completed a film talk grid, sharing our likes and dislikes on the animation, sharing connections we made to other films/books we have read.
In Maths, we have been learning about area. We began by discussing what is area and used non-standard units (Post-its) to measure a range of surfaces around our learning environment. We progressed to then discuss how we can calculate the area of rectilinear shapes. We drew on our knowledge and recall of our timetables to calculate the area.
In science we began our unit on Sound. We conducted a sound survey, using data loggers, to measure sound levels in different locations around the school, to see which areas were the quietest and which were the loudest. We also investigated amplitude. We used drums and rice to see if there was a link between loudness of the sound and the size of the vibration.
Our launch this term, we found Rune stones in the garden. We discussed and used our prior knowledge to investigate what we thought the stones could be or mean. We then created our own rune stones using clay.
