This term Year 6 have been looking at Op art – art that creates optical illusions. We’ve looked at the work of Bridget Riley and M.C Escher, recreating some of their most famous artworks. We’ve really enjoyed drawing different types of op art and making artwork that tricks your eyes! Sometimes the finished images look like they’re moving or there are hidden objects trapped under the surface. Our favourite illusion was drawing a hidden hand.
This week we have been designing our own Tessellation tiles and carving them into Lino. This has been really tricky as the tiles need to be exactly the same! Tessellation are a pattern of 2D shapes which fit perfectly together, without any gaps! We’re very excited to get printing next week and make our Tessellation art.
