Though it’s hard to believe, our Year 6 pupils have just a few weeks left with us! This week, many of them visited their secondary schools for a taster day. Here’s what one of them had to say about the experience.
My secondary school induction day started off by doing Art. We learnt about the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and had to recreate one of his modern masterpieces by manipulating paper into more intricate creations. After we finished Art it was break time where we helped ourselves to snacks and talked to our friends. It felt like a really calm atmosphere as the teachers were very kind and the Year 10s that were supporting were very helpful.
Then we went on to drama and it was chaotic yet fun. We played an eye contact game. I was sitting in a chair in a circle with lots of other chairs around me. You have to look at the person you want to swap chairs with, while another person could steal it. After that we played a game with a bottle in a random place and you had to try and grab it first with your eyes closed. Finally we did a freeze frame that represented the school.
Later on, in Maths, we cracked a codebreaking puzzle to find out which teacher was a ‘criminal’. After that we had some delicious macaroni and cheese and played football outside. It was a very fun day and I can’t wait to start in September!
