This week Bronze Class have made a fantastic start to the new term and are really keen to learn more about their topic, Disease and Development.
As part of our launch, the children carried out a simple experiment to see what happens to non-enveloped viruses and enveloped viruses when they are exposed to warm soapy water. The children made enveloped viruses using butter, black pepper, double-sided sticky tape and tin foil. The non-enveloped viruses were made using tin foil, double-sided sticky tape and black pepper. They were really fascinated by the results and learnt to appreciate the importance of handwashing.
In science, the children continued to deepen their understanding of microorganisms by investigating the types of variables that affect the effectiveness of handwashing using UV lights and Glo gel.
