This half term in Orchid class our topic is ‘We Are Superheroes!’
After our very exciting launch day, we’ve had fun learning all about superheroes. The children have loved our new text ‘Supertato’ by Sue Henderson. They have made their own supertatos, made tools to rescue the trapped vegetables, written speech bubbles for the characters in the story and made their own vegetable superheroes.
In Maths, we have begun to look at numbers to ten. The children have been busy counting, learning number songs, forming numbers and counting objects. We have also introduced a ten frame to help us with our counting.
We have loved our music lessons where we have been exploring musical instruments which can be shaken, banged and scraped.
In PSHCE, we have been learning about challenges and how to be resilient. Jigsaw Jenny has taught us to never give up even when something is hard. The children loved working as a team to build a superhero tower out of spaghetti and mushrooms. They were able to discuss what challenges they faced and how they overcame them.
