This week in Mint class, the children have been busy learning their 8x tables. They’ve designed their own flash cards and have been using these to quiz each other. In English over the past couple of weeks, the children have written their own version of the story of ‘Winter’s Child’ by Angela McAllister. The sequel ‘Spring’s Child’ included noun phrases, prepositions and dialogue. We are all quite proud of how imaginative the children were with their stories.
In Science, the children have been learning about how fossils are formed and they created fact files about Mary Anning. During our Science lessons, we’ve been investigating the different layers within the soil and why soil is so important. They’ve discovered that soil is made up of rocks and animal & plant matter. We’re looking forward to our next investigation where we’re going to be investigating the permeability of different soil samples. How exciting!
In History this week, the children have been working towards answering our key question, which is ‘are volcanoes and earthquakes creators or destroyers’? The children have been busy finding evidence to support both sides of the argument.
It has been a truly enjoyable week and we’re looking forward to a restful weekend.
