We have all been very busy in Nursery, growing things and reading stories by the author Eric Carle.
The children have especially enjoyed the story of ‘The Mixed-Up Chameleon’. We have learnt about camouflage, as well as learning all about the different animals in the story. We revisited colour by learning the song ‘I can see a rainbow’ and exploring colour in our provision. The children enjoyed becoming ‘budding scientists’ and mixing their own colours using the primary colours.
We have also started to grow our own cress seeds in class, and have talked about what seeds need in order to germinate and grow into little seedlings and plants. We carried out a simple investigation to see how our seeds would grow in the class with light and water, in the dark with water and with light but and no water. The children were pretty good at their predictions and were amazed at how differently the seeds grew.
The children have now taken home their grass heads and are carefully looking after them at home. We are looking forward to seeing them coming back to Nursery with fully grown hair! Happy Growing!
