What a wonderful wet and windy start to the term we have had in Cerise class! We are continuing to explore our topic ‘We Are Gardeners’. In English we have read the book ‘The Enormous Turnip’ where we have explored different types of root vegetables, what things we can grow under the soil and have been learning to retell the story by acting it out. We have decided to become authors and innovate the story ourselves this week. We have chosen our own enormous vegetable to grow and have been thinking of which characters we would like to come and help us pull it out of the ground.
We’ve had so much fun in maths! We have loved learning about subtraction. We’ve used 10 little speckled frogs as our stimulus and key vocabulary subtract, take away, part and whole. We have been deepening our understanding of subtraction by looking at the relationship it has to number bonds to 10.
In topic, we have been learning all about the life cycle of frogs. We have used the creative resources to make representations of each part of a frog’s life. We have also been rehearsing our spring show songs ready to perform to you at the end of the term.
