As part of our topic this term ‘Getting to the root of it’ Emerald class have been learning how to dissect a flower. Once we dissected the plant we were able to find and label all the different parts. We have been finding out the role of each part in the lifecycle of a flowering plant and how amazing it is that you can grow so much fruit from just one seed!
In English, we have been looking at the poems of Kate Wakeling and learning to use our voice to perform our favourite one. We have also had a go at writing kennings to describe a type of weather or aspect of nature.
In Maths, we have been learning to measure length using centimetres and millimetres and convert between the two.
In Computing, we have been learning about databases and how they can be useful ways of storing and finding information. We compared the advantages and disadvantages of paper and computer based databases.
