This week, we have been eagerly continuing our computing project. We are focusing on understanding how data for digital images can be compressed. Did you know, this is what the Mars Rover had to do every time it sent an image back to earth? Amazing!
In reading, we have continued to focus our attention on “Out of this World,” and we have been learning about the ‘Race to Space’ and all the different rockets, probes, and satellites that were used by the world’s superpowers during the 1950s.
We enjoyed meeting Eddie Burnett from Jubilee Books, he had such a vast selection of books that we got to look through and read. Lot’s of us found new an exciting Manga. It was great getting to choose new books for our book corner and we can’t wait to read them!
In celebration of Windrush, we used a variety of fruits and vegetables found in the Caribbean to make a healthy Jamaican-inspired fruit and vegetable drink. They were delicious, if we do say so ourselves!
We really enjoyed celebrating and understanding the lives of the Windrush generation – the heroes who helped rebuild Britain after World War II.
