The start of term has been very busy in Brass Class! We kicked off the term with an intensive week course swimming at Forest Hill Pools. It was hard work but extremely rewarding, especially for those of us who had never swam before! It was hard to believe how much progress we made in just one week.
In English we have been finishing off our biographies about famous or important people in history. We have been editing and refining our work this week to ensure we engage our readers.
In art we have been continuing with one of our favourite topics from this year – Manga! It’s become a fast favourite style for all of us and this week we looked closer at the anime style from Studio Ghibli, learning how to block out the shape of characters bodies before outlining and adding details. It’s been a lot of fun and helped us to create our own characters too.
In the afternoons Year 6 have been helping to clean up the Paxton garden and playgrounds. We’ve been removing weeds, moving stumps and wood chips to Forest School and watering the plants.
We have also started work on our Yearbook. Everyone has designed a front cover which we will then vote on to find one for the front cover design and one for the back cover. This week we have all begun writing our profile pages which has been much harder than we thought! It has been nice talking about our favourite memories of Kelvin Grove and reminding each other of all the fun we’ve have had.
