Gold class have been extremely busy this term finding out all about time and space!
In English we have been reading the non fiction text “Moonshot” and writing diary entries about watching the launch of Apollo 11 from the year 1969. We also wrote diaries from the perspective of astronauts!
In maths we have been looking at telling the time using the 24 hour clock and learning the Roman numerals up to 10. We were really creative and used pasta to make our Roman Numerals! Making maths practical has really helped us in our understanding.
In Science we have been learning about the different planets and how they revolve around the sun, we took our learning outside on a hot sunny day to practice this. It was a lot of fun!
In art we have been looking at different techniques of printmaking. We really enjoyed using the print rollers to create textured paper for collage. We used our paper to create the base of our planets and then used watercolours and coloured pencils to finish off our space scenes! This week we also learnt about using art to relax and spent time learning about Mandala’s and drawing our own.
In the afternoons we have been planting vegetables in the garden, ready to be picked in the last week of term. It takes a long time for them to grow but we’re very excited.
What a great start to the Summer 2 term!
