As part of Chartwell’s ‘Bee Happy’ campaign, this term they launched their third theme, Bee Ready.
The focus throughout this term is on getting ready for the hibernating bumblebees which emerge in the spring. Children were asked to design a 3D flower garden poster, showing what hungry bees can feast on when they come out of hibernation.
The judges have been blown away by the amazing entries from Kelvin Grove! Any bee would be lucky enough to visit one of the gardens designed by you. It has been an extremely hard task deciding on just two winners, as there really have been so many fantastic entries. We have had such a delightful range of garden designs submitted and are pleased to showcase them all in a gallery below.
All children who entered received a certificate for participating during High Flyers assemblies this afternoon, and the winning children were announced. They will be given their class prizes next week – this includes a flower garden starter kit for their classroom. Along with their classmates, the children can nurture the flowers and watch them grow – inside to start with, and then the pots can be popped outside from April onwards for the hungry bees.
A huge congratulations to our winners: Leo in Y2 Ochre Class and Bryan in Y3 Jade Class!
A very special mention to Sara in Y6, Victoria and L’Shayah in Y5, Matilda in Y4, Malna in Y3, and Ottilie, Miri, Emma and Vikash in Y2 for their delicate and creative designs.
Well done to all the children who submitted such thoughtful and fabulous designs for the competition.
