Copper class have had a wonderful term so far. Year 6 have been celebrating World Book Day by sharing their love of reading with Magenta, Rainbow and Gold class. I am so impressed and incredibly proud of Copper class; their behaviour and compassion has been outstanding. It was lovely to see the children sharing their love of reading and supporting their peers in a positive way. Well done, Copper!
In Art, we have been learning about manga and anime. The children have loved seeing some of their favourite anime and manga featured in our lessons. We started the topic by focusing on drawing the eyes, nose and mouths of male and female characters in the manga style, focusing on different expressions. We loved making our own characters and ensuring we got the style right. I’ve been very impressed by the work the children have been producing as a result of their focus and determination- great job!
English lessons have had a spooky element this week with children writing their own piece guessing what is in the ‘forbidden room’. This piece of writing has been inspired by the Japanese myth, ‘The Goblin of Adachigahara’. This Japanese fairy tale is about a pilgrim traveller who needs accommodation for the evening and stumbles across a run-down house owned by a kind old lady. She lets him stay but tells him not to enter the forbidden room- of course he does! It was left to the children to decide what gory and hideous things inhabited this creepy room and I have to stay their writing has been scary! It was great to see children applying the skills learnt in previous topics on suspense to write their own descriptions.
