Our topic this term is Soil, Seeds & Sunshine and the children have been very busy learning about plants. They each planted a sunflower seed last term and took it home over the spring holiday to look after. Many of the sunflower plants are growing well. Miri even took hers on holiday to Scotland to make sure that it was well cared for!
Cinnamon Class have been on two trips already this term. Last week we went to Wells Park for a spring walk, to look at all the amazing plants there. The dahlias in the flower beds, the amazing wonky willow tree and the bamboo walkway were firm favourites.
This week we have been to Beckenham Place Park to explore further. The children were excited to be out and about and enjoyed the activities in the park, despite the chilly weather. They identified lots of different trees from their leaves and by hugging them (wearing blindfolds!). They pretended to be seeds and learned what they needed to germinate, they collected a variety of natural materials from the ground to make art and they did some bark rubbing. We met many incredible plants in the park, including a 200 year old mulberry tree and a 280 year old London Plane tree. The tulips in the flower garden were incredible. We want to say a big thank you to our brilliant parent helpers who gave up their time and looked after the children so well.
