The fun and learning have continued here at Nethercott Farm, with Year 5 embracing another fantastic day of new experiences and teamwork. We have loved rotating our jobs and getting stuck into a fresh set of tasks, taking on farm and garden duties we hadn’t yet had the chance to try.
Today’s activities included grooming and caring for the ponies, donkeys, cows and pigs, as well as harvesting vegetables in the garden. There was plenty of teamwork on display as we pushed wheelbarrows, transported compost, and helped keep the garden in tip-top shape.
A definite highlight, and a brand new favourite, has been meeting the chickens and their chicks! The excitement was hard to miss as we had the chance to gently hold some of the newly hatched baby chicks! They were absolutely adorable, and we impressed the Nethercott staff with how gentle and caring we were.
Over in the kitchen, our next chef group took on the challenge of making traditional pasties for lunch. From peeling and prepping to crimping the dough, it was technical work that took real concentration, but it paid off! Once baked, the pasties not only looked amazing but filled the farmhouse with the most delicious smell.
Down at forest school, there was even more fun to be had! Climbing, crafting, and creating in the woodland space. It was great to get muddy, explore, and enjoy the great outdoors in such a free and adventurous way.
Everyone is continuing to make the most of their time here; learning new skills, building confidence, and making memories that are sure to last a lifetime. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
