It’s our final day here at Nethercott Farm, and what an incredible week it has been! We’ve all had such a brilliant time getting stuck into farm life, but what we’ve loved most of all has been meeting and caring for the animals.
Feeding and grooming the ponies and donkeys has been a real joy, and of course, one of the biggest highlights of the week was meeting the baby chicks, they were so tiny and adorable, and we were so lucky to be able to gently hold them.
We’ve really enjoyed the lunches we made ourselves, learning new cooking skills along the way and using some of the fresh produce we harvested from the garden. The Nethercott team looked after us so well at dinner time too! It’s been wonderful to eat such hearty, homemade meals every day.
We’ve also learnt new skills down at the Spinney in forest school, where we explored nature, tried our hand at crafting with natural materials, and even made our own charcoal. It’s been such a fun and adventurous part of the week.
As well as all the practical farm skills we’ve picked up, we’ve forged new friendships and grown so much as a group, helping each other, working as teams, and sharing unforgettable experiences.
This morning, we enjoyed a big breakfast made with eggs we had collected ourselves, which felt like the perfect way to round off our stay. While we’re sad to say goodbye to the animals and the peaceful rhythms of the farm, we’re so excited to see our families this afternoon and share all of our stories.
We’ll see you soon!
