Headteacher's Message
We are already three weeks into our final summer term and, as always, it has been incredibly busy. The weeks seem to be flying by, with children continuing to enjoy a wide range of learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom. There is still much to look forward to, with Year 6 preparing for their residential visit to France and several other year groups having trips planned later in the term. Please do keep an eye on the school website calendar and letters sent home to ensure you don’t miss any important dates and events.
Year 4 have enjoyed their recent visits to Devonshire Road, while Year 2 had a fantastic trip to the Young V&A Museum to visit the Wallace and Gromit animation exhibition. We were delighted to receive such positive feedback from museum staff, who praised the children’s engagement, enthusiasm and politeness throughout the visit. As this was many children’s first trip into central London, it was particularly pleasing to hear how well they represented the school. Feedback like this always makes us incredibly proud and reflects the values we work hard to develop in all our pupils.
Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome families to our Sports Days next week. Please check the timetable below and refer to the letter sent out earlier this week for full details. With warmer weather forecast, we ask that children come to school with a named, refillable water bottle and that sunscreen is applied before the school day begins.
Attendance continues to be a key priority for the school. Every day in school matters, and regular attendance gives children the very best opportunity to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. Thank you for your continued support in ensuring children attend school every day unless they are genuinely unwell.
We are also looking forward to coming together as a community for our Summer Fair on Friday 26th June. A huge thank you to the PTA for all of their hard work in organising this event. If you are able to volunteer an hour or two to help on the day, please do let the PTA know. It promises to be a wonderful afternoon and a fantastic celebration of our school community.
Sports Day

Please see the letter set out here for more information on Sports Day.
A reminder of the colours children are wearing in Years 3 – Year 6 is below.
School Council
School Council representatives were excited to attend a special catering taster session as part of the process to select our new school catering provider. The children sampled dishes from prospective catering companies and scored each meal, helping to influence an important decision for the future of school lunches. It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to have their voices heard and contribute to the life of the school.
Our School Council members have also been busy planning an exciting Day of Play which will take place at the end of the school year. The children have been discussing ways to make playtimes even more fun, creative, and inclusive for everyone across the school.
As part of this, we are hoping to refresh and expand the play equipment available in the playground, and we would be incredibly grateful for any donations from families that could help support this. We are looking for items that are clean, safe, and in good condition, including:
🪀 Small world toys such as dolls, dinosaurs, toy cars, and trains
🥣 Old kitchen utensils for our mud kitchens
🧸 Cuddly toys for a playground toy zoo
🛴 Scooters
⚽ Sports equipment such as balls, racquets, and skipping ropes
These resources make a huge difference to children’s creativity, teamwork, and enjoyment during playtimes. Thank you in advance for any donations and support; you will help make our Day of Play and everyday playtimes even more special for the children!
Book Recs!
We’re looking for suggestions of all kinds, favourite novels, popular series, graphic novels, comics, and more!
Please take a moment to complete a book recommendation and share your ideas with us.
Thank you for helping us inspire a love of reading! 📖
Fab Home Learning!
We would like to say a huge congratulations to all of the children for their fantastic home learning this term. It has been wonderful to see so much creativity, effort, and enthusiasm continuing beyond the classroom. From creative projects and artwork to research, writing, and practical activities, the children have truly impressed us with their hard work and imagination. Thank you also to families for your continued support with learning at home, we are so proud of everything the children have achieved!
Adventures with Aardman!
Before half term Year 5 enjoyed an exciting visit to the Young V&A Museum, where each class explored the Aardman, Wallace & Gromit and Friends exhibition. This week Year 2 had the joy of visiting the exhibition as well and both year groups have had such a wonderful time. The trips linked perfectly with their Computing focus on stop-motion animation and gave the children a fascinating look into the world of animation and film-making.
Throughout the exhibition, the children had the chance to get hands-on with a range of interactive activities. They explored original models and sets from famous Aardman productions, experimented with creating animated sequences, added sound effects to scenes, and discovered how lighting can completely change the mood of a film set. It was an inspiring experience that brought their classroom learning to life in a creative and memorable way.
We were especially proud to hear such positive feedback from the Young V&A staff about all three Year 5 and Year 2 classes. The children were praised for being thoughtful and considerate towards other visitors throughout the museum, and staff were particularly impressed by how kindly some pupils helped younger children use the interactive displays.
Year 2 received such high praise for how quickly they picked up on the animation techniques and they’re overall eagerness and enthusiasm in the exhibition.
All classes represented the school brilliantly, and we were delighted to receive such wonderful reports about their behaviour and attitudes; they were wonderful ambassadors for the school!

Lego Donations
We’re looking for donations of LEGO to support our SEND resources and provide more creative play opportunities during breaktimes. If you have any spare bricks or complete sets at home that are no longer being used, we would greatly appreciate your contribution. LEGO is a fantastic tool for encouraging creativity, fine motor skills, and collaborative play among our pupils.
Donations can be dropped off at the school office, thank you for your support!
Tesco Stronger Starts
We’re excited to share that Kelvin Grove Primary School has been selected for the Tesco Stronger Starts Grants Programme! This means we have the chance to receive funding of up to £1,500 to support our pupils, but we need your help.
When shopping at Tesco, please collect a blue token at checkout and vote for our project in-store. The more votes we receive, the more funding we can secure to benefit our school community.

Governors' and Friends News
The Governors
This term, we met as the Pupils, Parents & Community Committee and focused on attendance. As a school, attendance is an area that requires significant improvement, and we are currently some way from where we need to be. Quite simply, if a child is not in school, they are missing valuable learning opportunities. Please ensure that your children attend school regularly. If you have any concerns or are experiencing difficulties related to attendance, our staff are always available to listen and offer support.
We are also looking forward to the Summer Fair next week. As ever, the KG Circle have been working incredibly hard to organise this wonderful event. If you are able to help on the day, please do volunteer, every helping hand makes a difference!

We have some great prizes for the raffle including £100 Sainsbury’s Voucher, £50 One for All Shop, £50 Mamma Dough Voucher, Nandos, Wagamama’s vouchers and much more from local businesses.
