This half term in Reception, we are finding out about different countries around the world.
Last week we read the book “The Runaway Chapatti” set in India and we learnt how to tell the story off by heart and wrote our own speech bubbles. We even followed Mrs Paoli’s instructions for how to make our own chapattis at home.
This week we are reading “The Koala Who Could” and we are learning about Australia and the animals that live there. We have had a go at doing our own Australian Dot Paintings.
In Maths we have been learning how to count to 10 and how to represent numbers in different ways. We investigated the number ‘8’, made our own octopuses and have been learning how to use ten frames. This week we have been sorting our toys into different groups and working out which group has more or fewer.
We have really enjoyed Ms Drewe’s phonics lessons and we are getting really good at snowballing when reading. We have been using our phonics skills when reading books from Oxford Owl.
