In Ochre class we have been learning all about the Great Fire of London. In history, we thought of some questions to find out more about what happened on that day in 1666.
At the start of last week, we finished writing our stories based on Vlad and the Great Fire of London. The Year 2 team really enjoyed reading these fantastic stories, and everyone did a great job of using adjectives in their descriptions and extending their sentences using conjunctions. Lots of children have learned so much new vocabulary since beginning this topic! Our new book is a non-fiction text all about the Great Fire, and we have already written some warnings to people living in London in 1666 about the danger of fires!
In maths we’ve been adding and subtracting multiples of 10, partitioning numbers in different ways, and at the end of last week we started adding 2-digit numbers together. It has been amazing to see the work children have done on their challenge activities, with children doing some great explanations for how they have worked something out.
In science we did an experiment to test the absorbency of different materials! We found materials around the house to test like cardboard, cloths, and paper. It was great to see videos and voice notes from children at home as they completed the experiment.
