This week Amber class will be continuing to explore their topic, Amazing Animals. The children are going to be using lots of skills they have learnt from last week to write fantastic non-fiction pieces about polar bears.
In English, they have been using the text, ‘The Odd Egg’ by Emily Gravett to inspire their writing and explore the wonderful world of different types of animals eggs. In this story, the children were introduced to a very determined duck who wanted to have an egg – just like all of his bird friends. Very quickly, Duck solves this problem by finding himself an egg. The children used the animal characters as a stimulus to research, describe and write lots of fascinating facts about these animals and their eggs.
In maths, Amber class have been learning about teen numbers. The children started the week by thinking carefully about how to sequence these numbers when counting backwards and forwards, and then moved onto learning about how these numbers can be shown in different ways. They have also explored finding one more and one less and partitioning numbers into tens and ones.
In topic, the children have continued to do more wonderful learning about animals. They have learnt how to classify animals based on their diets and produced some delightful artwork when designing their own animals. I have been extremely impressed with all of their efforts and the wonderful work they have produced – keep it up superstars!
Here are some brilliant examples of their work.
