This week Year 4 completed their study on the text, “How the Stars Came to Be,” a contemporary folk tale about how the stars were made. Children created an artwork of a sun and moon, inspired by the illustrator Poonam Mistry. They used colour, shapes and patterns of intricate detail to express their creativity.
In literacy, the children explored the topic of pollution and its contributions to global warming. They gained this knowledge through documentaries and factual texts. The children really enjoyed this and were eager to share their thoughts in class discussions.
The impact of pollution on our environment interlinks with our Geography topic, “River Systems.” This week children created persuasive posters on how rivers have been used in the past and present, and how human behaviour has impacted negatively on our river systems. They were passionate about communicating ways in which we can all make a difference in keeping our rivers clean.
