Over the course of this week, Violet Class have been incredibly busy. During Children’s Mental Health Week we spent time thinking about ourselves and how we can express our personalities – creating posters that told others things about us.
In English, we have been writing our own version of a story where an object is touched and the protagonist is transported back to Ancient Egypt. It has been fun developing our description, thinking about what it would have been like to meet characters from Ancient Egypt e.g. Cleopatra.
On the no-screen day on Friday, Violet Class did a range of different activities that did not involve working on a screen, including going outside to play, helping out at home or helping to cook a meal.
The highlight of our week – apart from the snow – has been using clay to form a canopic jar. This would have been used by the Ancient Egyptians to store a person’s organs during the process of mummification. In order for our final piece to be effective, we had to spend time designing it. We used images of canopic jars from Ancient Egypt to base our ideas on.
