There has been lots of changes in Year 5 this term and children in Indigo class have been enjoying their new English and maths groups. In English, we have been reading ‘Love That Dog’ by Sharon Creech and we have been writing diary entries in role as the protagonist – Jack. Our writing has been emotive, demonstrating Jack’s feelings at different points in the story. It’s been a great book for discussion and inspiration for our writing.
In maths we are continuing to work on fractions and are becoming more confident with calculating fractions and solving related reasoning problems. Science has been fun, learning all about human life cycles and how we develop from a foetus to an elderly person.
In our Jigsaw lessons this term we have been discussing online safety. We have looked at the age limits for different social networks and why they are necessary. We have shared lots of mature comments of the importance of safe internet use and how to avoid any potential dangers.
Finally we are loving our African drumming sessions and becoming more confident with the rhythm patterns!
