Cobalt Class have made a fantastic start to the new academic year and we are really enjoying our ‘Let There Be Light’ topic. In English, we have been using a short film called ‘The lighthouse’ to inspire our writing. We have written engaging diaries in role as the lighthouse keeper and we are now preparing ideas for how to create tension when we write a suspense story.
Our whole class reading text is ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes and we have learnt ways an author creates tension and how to scan a text for key words when answering comprehension questions.
In science lessons, we have learnt how a complete circuit is needed to light a bulb and we have tested different materials to see if they are electrical conductors or insulators. It has been a busy term already and we have also enjoyed our additional sport sessions and using our new chrome books for computing lessons.
