This half term in Orchid class our topic is ‘We Are Explorers!’ We’ve had so much fun using our passports to travel to different countries including Trinidad, England and India where we’ve explored the different things we can do, eat and see in each country. We have enjoyed reading the books ‘My Two Grannies’ and ‘The Runaway Chapatti’ where we joined in with repetitive refrains and have enjoyed role playing in the small world.
In art we took part in the ‘Take One Artist’ whole school project where we looked at the work of David Hockney. The children enjoyed making marks to create a field.
In maths, we have been exploring our early maths skills and looking at numbers to 5. We have been finding one more and one less and having a go at writing our numbers. We’ve also learnt all about 2D and 3D shapes and their properties. We had lots of fun seeing which shapes could be rolled and which could be stacked based on their properties.
