In English this week, Violet class have been deepening their understanding of deforestation – the clearing of forested land. We have been learning about the causes of deforestation and the impact that this has on species living in rainforests, indigenous people, and also the effect it has on global warming. It is incredibly sad to learn that a tree that takes 200 years to grow and is dead in 5 minutes – we must play our part to make a change.
In Science, Violet class have been learning all about fertilisation in flowers. We have had great fun dissecting a flower to look at all the different parts. Did you know that the male part of a flower is called the stamen and the female part is called the pistil? We really enjoyed this lesson and are looking forward to learning more next week.
