In Jade Class, we became geologists and carried out a rock hardness investigation! We wanted to find out what rock was the most hard-wearing out of: chalk, slate, sandstone, marble and granite. We used different items to scratch the rocks and recorded our observations. We then ranked each rock according to their hardness using a Mohs hardness scale. Some of us thought that granite was the most hard-wearing rock and some of us thought it was marble! We also carried out a soil investigation to identify different objects found in soil.
In maths, we have been learning to multiply and divide by 3 and 4. We also explored the relationship between the 2x tables and the 4x tables and that the answers in the four times tables, (2×2=4 ) are double the answers in the two times tables (2×4=8)!
In English, we have been writing a sequel to a story called ‘Winter’s Child’ by Angela McAllister about a boy who loved winter and wanted it to go on forever.
In PSHE we have been thinking about our dreams and goals. We also thought about people who face difficult challenges and how they overcome them. We used what we learned to design a garden for people who may face a particular challenge.
