Saffron Class has had an awesome half term. Our topic has been ‘The Great Fire of London’ and we’ve really enjoyed our fiction and non-fiction books about this in English and studying the events of 1666 in history. As part of this topic Mr Farriner – looking unusually like Mr Clark – came to see us and answered our questions about how the fire started in his bakery. The Great Fire also fed into our science investigation where we tested different materials to see which would make the best bucket. We discovered a paper bucket would not be useful to put out a fire!
In maths we have started our new topic of multiplication and we have been busy drawing equal groups and tidy arrays. We’ve been learning about algorithms in computing and have loved coding on ‘Coding for Carrots’. We’ve worked very hard and shown a lot of wonderful learning behaviour and esprit de corps this half term, and thoroughly deserve our well-earned treat this week.
