Mint class have had a great start this term! We launched our new topic ‘Groovy Greeks’ by immersing ourselves in Greek culture and becoming Olympians. We finished the day making laurel wreath crowns and gold medals!
We are using multiplication facts to help with our division, and we have been learning our 3, 4 and 8 times tables. We have learnt a trick to master our 8 times tables, you can double the 4 times tables!
In English we have been studying Greek Myths and are reading stories about Medusa and the Minotaur. It’s been very interesting learning about them.
During P.E. we have been trying our hand at activities done in the Greek Olympics – some of it is very similar to what we do today! We have also been practicing our skills for Sports Day. We have been working on our throwing skills, practicing javelin and discus.
In History we have been learning about the Greeks in more depth. Did you know they were very smart? They highly valued philosophy, education and the arts.
We are also continuing to play the ukulele in music lessons, and this week are learning songs to play with open strings – meaning we are playing the string without holding down them on the frets yet.
Even with all this learning happening in class, we still had time to have a school trip as well! We had a brilliant day out at the Natural History Museum. Read more about our visit here!
