This week Cerise class was invaded by an Evil Pea! He has caused havoc in our classroom. We have used all of our super powers to try and defeat him. We read the story of ‘Supertato’ as our inspiration.
We used different tools to free vegetables from jelly, ice and being stuck under a shopping basket. We had to use our fine motor skills to carefully remove the vegetables. Finally we explored which tools were best to defeat the Evil Pea. We found mashing him with the ricer the most effective!
We have used our increasing phonics knowledge to write descriptive sentences about the Evil Pea and speech bubbles this week. We have thought about what each trapped vegetable would say. We have also started writing in our writing journals.
It has been great fun exploring numbers to 10 and beyond. we have been able to use 10 frames to explore numbers 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and more.
All Reception children enjoyed ‘Superhero’ day to launch our new topic ‘Superheroes save the day’. Most exciting was meeting a Superhero. We met Batman and asked him some questions about his superpowers!
