Headteacher's Message
Welcome back to the new school year.
It has been a great start to the new term. Although it has been very busy, the children have settled in well and walking visitors around the school has been an absolute pleasure for me – I am incredibly proud of them.
Just a reminder that the start time for school is 8.45am. We have been opening the gates at 8.30am to allow children into the playground. From next week we will be opening the gates between 8.35am and 8.40am. Thank you for your support with the new arrangements.
Club News
A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who took the time to fill out our club survey e-form. We received great feedback on the clubs we have already provided and some wonderful ideas about new clubs you would like to see on offer at KG.
We are delighted to announce that a wider range of clubs will return from 27th September. Our survey feedback showed that although the children love our sporting activities, many would like to see more music, dancing, drama and arts and crafts on offer. Look out for our clubs letter and timetable next week announcing our enhanced range of fun activity clubs!
Achievements
Joshua in Year 4’s mum told us that he emptied his money box the other day and asked to buy food for the food bank.
They posted his generosity on their socials and he even got a retweet from Marcus Rashford! Following this he was on BBC Radio:

Well done Joshua from everyone at KG.
New staff
Welcome to: Joana Sousa (Year 1 teacher) who has joined us from a local Lewisham primary school; Emma Davies (reception teaching assistant) who has joined us from a local nursery and Neisha Afflick our new administrative assistant. We are very pleased to have you all on board.
Pupil Record Update
It is vital that we have the correct contact information for you in our school database, so that we can contact you in an emergency and ensure that our school to home communication is successful. It is really easy to check and update your child’s school record using the ‘SIMS Parent’ App or website. Instructions as to how to set up your account are here: https://kelvingrove.lewisham.sch.uk/log-in/sims-parent/
Please make sure that your contact phone numbers and email addresses are correct over the weekend. Thank you in advance.
Medicine in school
It is very important that any medication that your child may need to use while at school must come to the main school office. You will need to complete a consent form HERE so that it can be recorded on your child’s school record and fully labelled up and taken to class. Children who use epi-pens or are asthmatic must also have a full care plan that must be brought in with the medication.
Home School Learning Agreement
On Monday we sent home our updated Home School Learning Agreement. This is an annual agreement between the school, pupils and parents. It sets out how we all work together to achieve the school’s aims for children. You can discuss the agreement further and sign it at your year group curriculum meeting (if you haven’t already), click HERE to read.

Governors' News
From the Governors
Welcome back everyone! We hope that all of our KG families and staff managed to have a good summer, and a successful return to school.
Thank you to all who came along to the Reception Welcome picnic, it was great to see so many new and happy faces!
We are currently setting out our Governance priorities for the new school year, and we will share them with you once they are finalised.
In the short term, we are focusing on getting the Friends of KG (the PTA) restarted, along with the Parent Reps programme. COVID meant that both of these initiatives fell by they wayside somewhat. However, community is the lifeblood of our school, so we are keen to get everything back up and running.
We will also be holding elections for two new Parent Governors in October.
We will be sending out the relevant communication on all of the above in due course, but please do contact us on governors@kelvingrove.lewisham.sch.uk if you want to find out more about how you can get involved.
